Jessie B. Panter of Huntland, wife of the late Murphy Panter, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Beatrice Fowler of Huntland October 3 after an extended illness.

A native of Smithville, Tennessee, she was born August 16, 1901 to the late P. M. Atnip and Lucindie Knight Atnip. She was a homemaker and Baptist.

Services were at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Moore-Cortner Chapel with the Rev. O. P. Ethridge officiating. Burial was in McClure Cemetery.

In addition to Mrs. Fowler of Huntland, she is survived by five other daughters, Lucy Morris and Sue Panter, both of Huntland, Mable Campbell of Princeton, Alabama, June Prince of Lockport, Illinois, and Juanita Hendon of Scottsboro, Alabama; two sons, Loys Panter of Jacksonville, Florida and J. P. Panter of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; six brothers, Charlie Atnip of Bridgeport, Alabama, Willie Atnip of Harriman, Tennessee, Allen Atnip of Harvest, Alabama, A. B. Atnip of Scottsboro, Alabama, T. J. Atnip and Jim Atnip, both of North Carolina; two sisters, Susie Hambrick of Harvest, Alabama, and Emma Sisk of Scottsboro, Alabama; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
