Frank Bednar, 90, retired farmer, died Sunday morning at the Lutheran Home for the Aged. Death was due to complications of advanced age.
He was born Sept. 28, 1879 at Moravia, Czechoslovakia, a son of Joseph and Anna Rompot Bednar. He moved to Cedar Rapids in 1891 and come to Vinton 55 years ago. He married Antonia Koutny at Cedar Rapids on Oct. 31, 1904. He was a member of the I. O. O. F. Lodge in Cedar Rapids.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by three sons, Frank A. of Syracuse, Ind., Richard C. of Vinton and Wilbur C of Osage; three daughters, Matilda Berry, Lenora Chrysler and Mrs Gail (Dorothy) Showalter of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Mrs. Carl (Rose) Luchterhand and Mrs Milo (Tillie) Sedlacek of Cedar Rapids and Mrs Frank (Anna) Sawyer of Rockford, Ill,; two brothers, Joseph Bednar and Antone Bednar of Cedar Rapids, 21 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Fry and Holland Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert P. Phillips officiating, and burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established.
