BRIGHAM CITY – Janet Jones Gilbert, 84, passed away on June 29, 2015.

She was born on August 19, 1930 in Cedar City, Utah. Janet was the third of five children born to William and Claire Jones. She graduated from Cedar High School and attended Branch Agricultural College (SUU) and graduated from Utah State in physical education.

She married Arnold Gilbert in the St. George Temple in 1952.

Janet was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; she had a strong testimony and served faithfully in many callings. Namely, she served as Relief Society President of the Brigham City South Stake and served in many other church callings. Additionally, she fulfilled two missions with her husband to the Ohio, Columbus Mission and the New Zealand Missionary Training Center. Janet and Arnold also served together for many years in the Ogden Temple.

Janet dedicated her life to her family. She was a beautiful example of selflessness and service and was always thinking of others.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, three grandchildren, Bronson Gilbert, Kathleen Jeppsen, and Sherilyn Jeppsen.

She is survived by four sons and two daughters: Steven Gilbert of Brigham City, Utah; JoAnn (Steven) Jeppsen of Mantua, Utah; Doug (Karen) Gilbert of Brigham City, Utah; David (Kristine) Gilbert of Providence, Utah; Janeen (Seth) Hall of Cedar City, Utah; and Rodney (Melonie) Gilbert of Highland, Utah; 27 grandchildren, 16 great- grandchildren, as well as three brothers: Milton (Grace) Jones of Provo; Craig Jones of Cedar City; and Spencer (Jane) Jones of Salt Lake City.
