Visitation for Mary E. "Betty" Stam, 93, of Momence, will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Cotter Funeral Home in Momence, followed by a Eucharistic Mass at 11 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Momence. The Rev. Mark Middleton will officiate.
Interment will be in Momence Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family wishes. She died Wednesday Feb. 4, 2009 at Riverside Medical Center.
Mrs. Stam was a homemaker and beautician. She was born Sept. 16, 1915 in Momence, the daughter of Milan and Florence West Astle. Her husband, John H. "Jack" Stam, whom she married Nov. 16, 1946 in Momence, preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1985. She was a lifelong resident of Momence and a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Momence. She enjoyed watching all sports, especially the Chicago Cubs. She also looked forward to Tuesday mornings with Ava and spending time with Addison.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Roger Bradford, Connie and Terrance Wuethrich, all of Kankakee; five grandchildren, Brian (Margaret) Sherrill of Momence, Heather Sherrill (Oscar Munoz), Matthew Sherrill, Holly Sherrill (Jacob Grant) and Bethany Wuethrich, all of Kankakee; and two great-grandchildren, Ava Munoz and Addison Sherrill.
Deceased are her parents; one brother, Charles Astle and one sister, Vivian Preusler.
