Robert Love Boyd was the fifth child of James Davis Boyd but the fourth for Rachel Edella Minter Boyd. He was a retail merchant in Poplar Creek. He married Mattie Eliza Elkin Dec. 19, 1883. He died of pneumonia at the age of 72. He was the grandfather of Carl L. Oakes, Jr.
