Lela Bell Overstreet-Harmon, 83, of Elkhart, passed away at 12:45 a.m. Saturday June 27, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Elkhart.

She was born on December 4, 1931 in Evanston, IL to the late William & Luella (McGee) Harmon.

Lela is survived by: a son Howard (fiancé Tonett) Harmon of Elkhart, 2 brothers, William Harmon Jr., of Las Vegas, NV, Abelard Harmon of Evanston, IL, 2 sisters; Rozelma Perkins of Evanston, IL, Georgianna Harmon of Evanston, IL, 3 grandchildren: Eric J. (Karen) Chandler, Akisha (Frank) Vann and A-Dar Harmon, all of Elkhart, 4 great-grandchildren: Mashada Vann, Isiaih Chandler, Tyronz Vann and Quinn Chandler, all of Elkhart as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband Oliver David Overstreet, 2 brothers; John Henry Harmon, Jesse Harmon and a sister, Mary “Mae” Gilcrest.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday July 2, 2015, from 1-3 p.m. at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 700 E. Jackson Blvd Elkhart, IN 46516.

Interment will take place at Chapel Hill at a later date.

Lela worked as a bus driver for 15 years at Robinson Bus Service in Evanston, IL, which she truly loved. She also enjoyed playing poker, playing bingo, playing billiards and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lela loved life.
