Thomas and Sarah K. Lewis. He married Cynthia Baker Sept 15, 1853. Cynthia was born May 5, 1837. They moved to Dooly County in the fall of 1858.
This page also states, from the Thomas Lewis Bible, that a newspaper clipping inside states that Thomas Lewis, a resident of Dooly County, Georgia, died at Hougunot Springs, Va. Aug, 7,____?. Thomas Lewis, father of Jasper Franklin Lewis, was born Jan. 19, 1804"
Cemetery #4 in the Dooly History book says he is buried on Highway #90, abt 220 Yards west of the Campground creek.
He has a document in the Confederate Citizens File (Fold 3) where he sold baskets to the Confederate army. But could not find any other service listed. His obituary and a tribute by nephew, J. R. Kelly can be found in the Vienna News, Nov. 4, 1915, p. 1- no military service mentioned, but glowing terms of his character and willingness to help all.
Children are listed in Obit and includes Mrs. W. C Hamilton of Cordele as daughter. 7 sons!
