Sam Kirby dead at 53!

Sam B Kirby, 53, who was director of Arkansas Publicity and Parks Commission. Mr. Kirby died in Chicago as a result of heart attack he suffered while attending a sportsman show.

Mr. Kirby, a native of Little Rock, was born Oct 10, 1904, attended parochial schools in the capital city, was graduated from the Morris School and the old Little Rock College. He owned and operated the Nabor Theatre in Little Rock and was an active supporter of Catholic High School.

In this connection, The Rev. William E. Galvin, rector of Catholic High, announced that the year book, "The Rocket." of the class of 1958 will be dedicated to Mr. Kirby recognition of his support of the school's activities.

He is preceded in death his grandparents, Samuel B Kirby and Dovenia Skelton Kirby, Anna O'Fallon Gallagher and Mike O'Fallon, his parents William Robert Kirby and Birdie O'Fallon Kirby. Besides his wife, Mrs. Marie (Thompson) Kirby he is survived by a son, Sam B Kirby, Jr., a student at Christian Brothers College, Memphis, a daughter, Mrs. Louis Greenwell of Little Rock, three grandchildren and two brothers, Bill and Joe Kirby and one sister, Mary Francis Werner, all of Chicago.

Family is receiving friends and loved ones at the family residence 1504 W 24th of this city. Funeral Monday, March 3, at St. Andrew's Cathedral with The Rev. B. Francis McDevitt, offering the Requiem Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
