Mr. Whitaker, 90, of Lincroft, died May 17, 2013, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Lincroft. He was born in Jersey City to John A. Whitaker Sr. and Rose Smith. He was predeceased by two brothers, Fred and Robert. He is survived by two sisters, Janet Salerno, of Tinton Falls, and Dorothy Bonsangue, of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
