Edward M. Vreeke, 48, of Sheboygan died Tuesday at the Family Heritage Nursing Center in Manitowoc where he had been a patient for one month. Mr. Vreeke had been in failing health for six months. Born May 14, 1923 in Sheboygan, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Vreeke. He was a 1941 graduate of North High School. Mr. Vreeke entered the U.S. Navy in 1943, serving as a radioman in the Asiatic and European theaters. Upon his return from the Navy in 1946, he married June Samsal of Sheboygan Falls. He was employed at Everett's Lodge and at the former Grand Hotel. He was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ. Survivors are his parents, Sheboygan; two sons, Steven, in the U.S. Air Force in England, and Scott, a student at Stout State University; four brothers, Richard, Ronald, Robert and Roger, all of Sheboygan, and a grandchild. Funeral services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels, Rev. Ruben Grosshuesch, pastor of Ebenezer Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral chapels after 4 p.m. Thursday.
