Albert Elwess Succumbs Here
One of Casper's well known citizens, Albert W. Elwess, 69, of 851 South Washington, died Tuesday afternoon at his home after a short illness.
Blind for many years, Mr. Elwess was a familiar figure on Casper's downtown streets where he sold the Casper Tribune-Herald to his many customers.
Failing health in recent years forced him to retire from his small business. Years ago he had a small newspaper stand at the Grand Central Bar, Second and Center, and one located at the Wyoming National Bank building.
Recently, members of the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints built him a home to live in. HE was a member of that church for 19 years.
Born in Fairmont, Minn., on January 12, 1880, he came to Casper during the early oil boom and has resided here since then.
The Bustard funeral home is in charge of arrangements while awaiting word from relatives.
