James Ralph Potter, age 85, of Maryville, passed away peacefully Friday, June 26, 2015, at home.

He was a veteran, proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army. He was a carpenter by trade, and a master craftsman at woodworking. He was also a very loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents Fate and Lina Potter; infant brother Charles Potter; brother Earl Potter, sisters Gladys Marie and Mary Sue Potter, Louise Garner and niece Tammy Teffeteller Collins.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Imogene Poplin Potter, daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Robert White, Rhonda and Kenny Brewer, Tracy and Jimmy Blackwell, all of Maryville, and Karen and Jeff Miracle of Rockwood; grandchildren, Kasey and Joey Walker, Shawn and Jennifer Chester, Robbie and Stacey White, Brandon Brewer, Anthony Brewer, Tyler Chester, Adam Kennedy and Sydney Blackwell, as well as six precious great-grandchildren; special dog, Kyle.

The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2015, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Gary Cowan and Daryl Croft officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 9:15 Tuesday for a procession to Laurel Bank Cemetery for a 10 a.m. interment service with military honors.
