Former Pickens Citizen Dies
The following clipping from a Memphis, Tenn., paper announces the death of Thomas Clark Windham. Mr. Windham was born and reared at Cochrane and was a member of one of the oldest and most prominent families of the county. The Windham family played an important part in civic, political and social development of this county in the early days.
Thomas Clark Windham
Thomas Clark Windham, inspector with the City Motor Vehicle Inspection Bureau since its opening a year and a half ago, died of a heart attack at his home, 1530 Monroe. He was 49 years old.
Mr. Windham had been ill two weeks. A native of Cochrane, Ala. he came to Memphis 25 years ago. He worked as mechanic for the Memphis fire department for five years, going from there to the H. H. Roth Co., where he worked for several years. He was a member of Speedway Terrace Baptist church. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Ida Frances Windham, three sons, J. C., Hugh and James E. Windham, Memphis; two daughters, Mrs. Earl Denison and Madge Windham, Memphis; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Brown, Memphis, and Mrs. George Downer, Aliceville, Ala., a brother, J. E. Windham, Cochrane, Ala.
Mr. and Mrs. George Downer of Aliceville attended the funeral in Memphis Saturday.
