Born on a farm near Dallas Center, August 4, 1876, he was a son of the late Phillip and Anna Becker, and one of a family of ten children, six of whom, together with his parents, preceded him in death.

Mr. Becker, one of the oldest business men in Dallas Center, was an expert barber, serving in that capacity for 47 years, all of which were here, except six years when he operated a shop in Adel.
