Earl Edwin Rudolph, son of Edwin and Edna (Wolf) Rudolph was born on July 21, 1949 in Jamestown, ND. He lived for a short time on a farm near Napoleon, ND prior to moving with his family to a farm in McPherson County, SD. Earl attended country school and went on to graduate from Eureka High School. He attended the Aberdeen School of Commerce for a short time prior to his enlistment in the United States Army. Earl was united in marriage to Karen Suedmeier in 1969.

During his enlistment they made their home in Indianapolis, IN and Waukegan, IL. Earl received his honorable discharge in the summer of 1971 and returned home to Aberdeen. He went to work for Malchow’s Home Furnishings for two years before joining Midcontinent Communications. With Midcontinent, he was transferred to Valentine, NE where he served as a location manager. During these years, Earl was a member and eventual president of the local Jaycees chapter. He then returned with the company to Aberdeen for several years before joining Serve-All as a sales and distribution manager for the South and North Dakota region. He finally switched his occupation and became a career machinist at Safeguard.

Earl was united in marriage to Gloria Miller on February 13, 2004. The couple happily made their home in Aberdeen and Earl continued working for Safeguard where he remained until his retirement in 2013. He also operated his own lawn mowing business, Earl’s Mowing Service, for many years and his passion for this work never ended, his business slogan read: “Your GRASS is mine”. Earl deeply enjoyed his life together with Gloria, with whom he shared many adventures.

Earl loved being outdoors. In his free time he liked to hunt and fish and also enjoyed gardening. He always enjoyed participating in sports such as softball and bowling where he was instrumental to his teams’ winning several championships. He also intently listened to and watched the Minnesota Twins and was a fierce Minnesota Vikings football fan win or lose.

Earl had a special place in his heart for cats, most recently his special cat Scooby who he taught to fetch. Scooby served as Earl's constant companion at home.

Grateful for having shared Earl’s life are his wife Gloria Rudolph, mother Edna Rudolph, four children, Kristyne Rudolph, Major Eric (Stacey) Rudolph USAF Ret., Dr. Melissa (Sean) Miller-Nelson and Elizabeth Miller, four grandchildren, one sister, Sheila (Aldean) Ebel; three brothers, Darrell (Peggy) Rudolph, Darcy (Laura) Rudolph and Cordell (Debra) Rudolph and many nieces and nephews.

Earl was preceded in death by his father Edwin Rudolph and his niece Amanda.
