Catherine Veronica "Nina" Whalen was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Hulda (Kniskern) Whalen. She grew up in Rosendale, Ulster County, New York before the family moved to Walden, Orange County, New York. Nina, as she was known, was a cleaner in a knife factory. She and William "Bill" Bradshaw were married on February 21, 1914 in Walden. They had three children (1 boy and 2 girls) before moving to Connecticut. Nina was buried on September 23, 1966.
