Daughter of Thomas Jenkins/Mary Barnard of Nantucket, MA and first wife of Rensselaer Havens of Shelter Island. It's probable Anna was born in Providence, RI as were brothers Elisha and Thomas (per their FaG memorials). It's very likely Thomas had moved his family to Providence to avoid the wrath of the British Navy during the Revolutionary War.

The Nantucket, MA V.R. has a birth entry for Nancy Jenkins: "Nancy, w. Rensellaer Havens, d. Thomas and Mary (Barnard),______, PR. 38 (personal record of William C. Folger)." Thus, Anna may have also gone by 'Nancy.'

With Rensselaer Anna had children:

Gloriana (1800-1879) m H T Dering
Charlotte Mary (1802-1889)
Rensselaer Nicoll (1804-1876)
Henry Watson (1807-1873)
Thomas Jenkins (1809-1810)
Sarah Jenkins (1812-1882) m Edward Bement

In 1919 the daughter of Anna's husband and his second wife, Catherine Elizabeth Havens (b. 1839), published a diary written 1849-1850 in NYC entitled "Diary of a Little Girl in Old New York." In it Catherine gives a few details about Anna's husband, Catherine's own father, and some of Anna's children.

Catherine E. Havens also mentions three of her full sisters who died in childhood being buried in New York City's Marble Cemetery; two of them were named after Anna Jenkins Havens.

"I have 3 little sisters who died before I was born and they are buried in the Marble Cemetery, and one day Maggy took me to see their grave....The oldest child was named Anna and she was seven years old..."
