Virginia Gloria Salazar, 60, of Grants, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2006, in Grants. She was born on Aug. 31, 1945, in San Mateo to Lizardo and Florentina Martinez Salazar, and worked as a caregiver with Home Health Care.

Mrs. Salazar is survived by her children Edward Salazar and wife Sonya of Grants, Henry Salazar and wife Diane of Grants, Walter Salazar and wife Loretta of Yuma, Ariz., Karen Chavez and husband Pete of Winnemucca, Nev., Sharon Gutierrez and husband Ben of Elko, Nev., and LeeAnn Chavez and husband Matt of Grants; her sister Patricia Sandoval of San Mateo; her brothers Benny Salazar of Albuquerque, Herman Salazar of San Mateo and Edwin Salazar of Milan; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lee Reyes Salazar; her parents Lizardo and Florentina Martinez Salazar; her sisters Maggie Baca, Rita Martinez and Pricilla Salazar and her brothers Ramon Salazar, Remijo Salazar and Lee Salazar.

A rosary was recited on Sunday, July 2, at 7 p.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Grants. A Funeral Mass was held on Monday, July 3, 2006, at 11 a.m. at St. Teresa Catholic Church with Father Matthew Keller as celebrant. Burial followed at San Mateo Community Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Anthony Lopez, Daniel Lopez, Matthew Salazar, Walter Salazar, Harold Salazar, Julian Salazar, Reyes Salazar and Lee Salazar. Honorary pallbearers were all of Mrs. Salazar's grandchildren.

Compassion Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
