She was an elementary school teacher in many LeFlore County rural schools. She and her husband, Vernon Nowlin, owned and operated the Summerfield General Store and Post Office for a number of years. She was a member of the Busy Bee Quilt Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son Jimmy Joe Nowlin; a grandson, Richard Green; eight siblings and her parents, Dr. A.R. Sisk and Eliza Scott Sisk.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law; a daughter and son-in-law; two sisters-in-law; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted July 3 at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Summerfield, with Rev. Charles Caughern officiating. Interment was in the Summerfield Cemetery.

Evans and Miller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
