Virginia P. Scyphers Allen, 91, of Blountville, Tennessee, passed away, on Monday, January 5, 2015 at her residence.
She was born in Abingdon, VA. on October 19, 1923, a daughter of the late Thomas Benjamin Powers and Myrtle Lee Scyphers Powers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glover Ray Allen; a sister, Nora Hurley; and a brother, Robert Powers.
Virginia was a loving and a devoted wife and was a vice president with Bank of Virginia Beach for many years.
Virginia is survived by her niece, Brenda Boyd; a nephew, Jim Hurley; along with several great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 pm Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Blevins Funeral and Cremation Services, 417 Lee St., Bristol, VA. The funeral service will follow at 2 pm with Pastor Rex Carter officiating.
The Committal service and interment will be held at a later date in Charity United Methodist Church Cemetery, Virginia Beach, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be sent to Central Baptist Church, 608 Mary St., Bristol, VA 24201.
