Pearl Louise Campbell was born April 17, 1888 to Isaac Martin Campbell and Martha Melvina (Mattie) Barnes Campbell in Limestone County, Texas. She was the second oldest child of that union. She had four older half-brothers, William Franklin Campbell, born in 1873, James Hardy Campbell born in 1875, Robert Moses Campbell born in 1877, and Seth E. Campbell born in 1879, from her father's first marriage to Sarah Ellen Bates who died in 1880. Her brother, George LeRoy Campbell was born in 1886, her sister, Martha Olive (Ollie) Campbell was born in 1891, her brother, Isaac Loyd Campbell was born in 1893, and her sister, Emma S Campbell was born in 1897.

Pearl married Robert Benjamin Calame in Limestone County, Texas on January 16, 1916 when she was 27 years old. She became the step mother to Chloe Delia Calame born March 13, 1908 and Cleo Lenard Calame born February 9, 1910. The first child of the union of Ben and Pearl was Laura Faye born on April 4, 1917. Their daughter, Frances Nadine was born July 17, 1918. Their next child was Mildred Melvina born August 4, 1920. Their first son together, James Doyle (Buddy) was born on July 15, 1922. Their second son, Benjamin Harold, was born on May 31, 1924. Their daughter, Wylna Louise, was born June 21, 1926. Their daughter, Rena LaRee, was born February 24, 1929 and their last child, a daughter, Freddie Jean, was born January 31, 1931.

She was preceded in death by her father Isaac Martin Campbell on August 12, 1900 and her mother Martha Melvina (Mattie) on November 20 1918; Her half-brother James Hardy on July 22, 1922; Her sister, Emma S. Campbell Michael, on April 24, 1932; Her step daughter, Chloe Delia Calame Welch died November 26, 1944; Her half-brother William Franklin Campbell died on November 22, 1949; Her half-brother, Robert Moses Campbell died on March 29, 1952.

She was a little lady with a huge heart. She worked all her life on the farm taking care of her ten children, preparing meals for many and being a comfort to all. She was a gentle soul with a distinctive little giggle. She was the center point of her family including that of her own brothers and sisters. Every one of her children remembers her loving and caring spirit even when she was exhausted from taking care of all the children and cooking all day. Every one of her children remember a special moment with her in the years that they were all home and even later when everyone had left home. She was diagnosed with Leukemia in 1949 and fought it valiantly for 10 years. She passed away peacefully at home December 18, 1959 surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ben Calame; Her stepson Cleo Lernard Calame (Ilene). Her daughter Laura Faye Palmer (Bill), Frances Nadine Mezirka (Dick), Mildred Melvina Hughes (Harold), James Doyle Calame (Maxine), Benjamin Harold Calame (Lou), Wylna Louise Putman (Y.M.), Rena LaRee Coker (J.W.), and Freddie Jean Gibson (Lloyd); Twenty one grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Services were at the First Methodist Church in Tehuacana, Texas and burial at the Wortham Cemetery, Wortham, Texas, Freestone County.
