He was a son of Jacob H. and Emma (Fryling) Black and was born in Huntingdon on November 26, 1879. At the time of death Doctor Black was aged 56 years, 10 months and 1 days. Doctor Black was a native son of Huntingdon county, a graduate of the Huntingdon High School and attended Juniata College. He was graduated from the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University, and since his graduation had practiced medicine at New London, Connecticut. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Laura Black, who was formerly Miss Laura Page, and one son, Ross Elliott Black, Jr., of New London. Three brothers and three sisters, Dr. J.T. Black, of Reading; Edward F. Black, of Mechanicsburg; Joel H. Black, of Camp Hill; Mrs. Oscar H. Irwin, Mrs. Rachael Black, and Mrs. James R. Howe, of Huntingdon, also survive.
