Fran was born March 28, 1930 in Waukee to John and Louise Hanlon and graduated from Waukee HS in 1948. She worked for the telephone company and then became a dental assistant, which was her career until her retirement. Fran was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and loved spending time with her son, daughter-in-law and her 3 grandchildren, taking vacations with them or just cooking for them. She was an excellent cook and seamstress and loved to share her work with others. Fran cared for her parents, John and Louise, until their deaths. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jack Hanlon and sister, Jane Hakes.
Fran is survived by her son Jim (Clare) Weil of West Des Moines; grandchildren Jen (Jay) Weinand of Plymouth, MN, Molly (Darby) Larson of Atlanta, GA, and Tony Weil of Clive; her sisters Cathy Vogel of Yale and Marie (Jerry) Hooper of Dallas Center. Fran was a joy to all who took care of her, mainly due to her great sense of humor.
