Dorothy Saunders Petersen peacefully passed during the early morning of June 19th, 2015, encircled by loved ones, her hand held by her loving husband.

Dorothy, born to Willard G. and Kirstiana Saunders in Hyde Park, Utah January 27th, 1921, was raised in Benson Utah-- the 7th of 14 children-- was preceded in death by both of her parents, 11 brothers and sisters, Altetha Meservy, Gilbert W, Earl M, Mary Chandler, Leroy E, Lillie Olsen, Ruth Palmer, Donald M & Wendell. Her 1st born child, Dorothy Mae Peterson also preceded her in death.

Dorothy attended school in Benson and Smithfield Utah. Dorothy graduated from North Cache High School in 1937 where, in her Seminary class, she met her husband. It was a love affair that lasted 76 years. Two years later they were married in the Logan LDS Temple.

The couple later moved to Downey California, where they devoted their lives to the raising their five children. After 43 wonderful years in Downey they returned to Cache Valley, a place they had always called home.

Since retiring in 1983 they have enjoyed traveling and spending time with a large and loving family. Dorothy enjoyed working with her husband in their beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. Many family and friends benefited from their vegetables garden, fruit trees and flowerbeds.

Dorothy loved and was faithfully devoted to the LDS church and was thrilled to serve in the Primary for 25 years and Junior Sunday School for 18 years. She also served in the Relief Society for many year. Serving in its leadership and as a teacher, affecting many of the lives around her. She often returned to the Temple with her husband.

In her life Dorothy blessed an innumerable amount of lives and will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Her family cannot wait to see her again.

Dorothy is survived by; her husband, 4 children and their spouses, 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren, 1 sister & 1 brother.

A viewing for family and friends will be Monday, June 22, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Nelson Funeral Home located at 162 East 400 North, Logan Utah.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 11:00 am at Hyde Park 10th Ward Chapel. The chapel is located at 42 West 200 South, Hyde Park, Utah.

Interment will follow in the Logan City Cemetery.
