20th Regiment, Illinois Volunteers. Died after the battle of Bird's Point, Mississippi County, Missouri. His burial in this cemetery is not confirmed. But some of the dead at Bird's Point were shipped home. Samuel Cuppy, died there 1/1/1862, and was shipped home to Joliet, Ill. It was wintertime, so shipping of bodies in unheated railcars would have been practicable.
