1882 – Birth. Nellie DePriest is born in Nebraska to Carey W. and Mary L. DePriest.

1905 – Marriage. Nellie marries John Henry Snowberger at age 25.

1907 – Birth. A daughter, Edna, was born to John and Nellie Snowberger in Nebraska.

1910 – U.S. Census. On April 15, Nellie is living in Vail, Keith, Nebraska with husband, John Snowberger, and daughter, Edna, 3. She is 29, born about 1881 in Texas. Father was born in Alabama; mother in Texas. Nellie, a seamstress, had been married five years and had one child.

John Snowberger, 37, was born in Kansas about 1873. Father and mother’s birthplace is unknown. John is a farmer on a farm.

1918 – Birth. A son is born in Nebraska to John and Nellie Snowberger. Donald, 23, married Lenore D. House on February 24, 1942, Fremont County, Idaho. When their baby was born in 1948, they were living in Ashton, however by 1952, the Snowbergers had made Butte, Montana their residence.

1920 – U.S. Census, taken on January 17 in Vail, Keith County, Nebraska, reviles additional information on Nellie:
*Carl H. DePriest, 38, single, born in Texas, is the head of house, a farmer on a general farm.
*Houston S. DePriest, brother, 26, single, born in Nebraska, is a mechanic in a garage.
*Carey W. DePriest, father, 71, married, born in Alabama, is unemployed.
*Mary L. DePriest, mother, 61, married, born in Texas, father born Tenessee and mother born in Mississippi.
*Nellie Snowberger, sister, 39, is living with her brother; has two children: Edna, 11, going to school and Donald A., a year and eight months. She is teaching in a public school.

1930 – U.S. Census, taken on April 2nd, shows Nellie, 48, living in the Squirrel Precinct, Fremont, Idaho, the head of house, is a teacher in a public school. Also living with Nellie is her mother, Mary L. DePriest, 72, and her eleven-year-old son, Donald.

Nellie’s neighbors in Squirrel were A. T. Johnson and his wife Cynthia. The Johnsons were owners of the Squirrel General Store, just across the road from the school. Also neighbors were William P. and Katharine Graz and their family.

1935 – Nellie was living in rural Bonneville County in Idaho.

1940 – U.S. Census show Nellie with a four year high school education living in Lamont, Fremont County, Idaho. She was 59, divorced, and leasing a farm.

1943 – When Randall Frederickson and Gary Gorton, who were living in Lamont, Idaho, began school as a first grader, their teacher was Nellie Snowberger. She also taught Randall in the second grade in the Lamont one-room schoolhouse.

Nellie’s mother, Mary L. DePriest, 82, was living with her daughter and son-in-law Dollie S., 48, and Booney E. Jessen, 59. Booney was owner and leaser of a farm in the Lamont area. They were neighbors to Paul and Bernice Niendorf and Don and Edna Niendorf.
