William John, known as Jack, was the son of:
Thomas Charles Long 1833 – 1890
Elizabeth Ann Foley 1832 – 1875

Jack, age 21, married Mary Ann Moriarty in St. Paul, Neosho co, KS on Sept. 19, 1875. their son, Thomas John, was born in St. Paul on July 24, 1876. Mary Ann died that same year.

Jack was 23 years old when he married Julia A. Renck in St. Paul, KS on Sept. 3, 1877. Their children were:
Mary Charlotte 1877 – 1902
Ida May 1879 – 1932
Charles William 1881 – 1932
Frederick Arthur 1883 – 1884
Clarence Ira 1885 – 1946
George L. 1887 – 1918
Tillo Orson 1892 – 1938

They were living in Wichita, Sedgwick, KS when Julia died on March 27, 1902.

Jack was 43 when he married Emma Jane Hoghn in Oswego, Labette Co, KS on Feb. 17, 1897. Emma gave birth to Lottie B. in Wyandotte, Ottawa Co, OK two days after Christmas, Dec. 27, 1897.

"Services Today For W.J. Long
Wyandotte, Sept. 10. - Funeral services will be held here at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon for W.J. Long, 79-year-old pioneer who had lived 37 years at his farm on Sycamore creek, five miles east of here. Long fell dead at his home Thursday night.

Mr. Long is survived by his wife, Mrs. W.J. Long; four sons, L.B. Long and Ira Long of Wyandotte and T.J. Long and T.O. Long of Globe, Ariz., and one daughter, Mrs. May Hammond of Wichita, Kas.

Known as Jack Long, the elderly pioneer was a cattle dealer and farmer on note long before statehood."

"Pioneer Dies
Wyandotte and the community were grieved over the sudden death of W.J. Long, who died at his home, four miles south of here, Thursday evening at 7 p.m.

He was born in Canada and came to the United States when he was 13 years old. Mr. Long has lived on his farm on Sycamore for the last 37 years and was known throughout northeast, Oklahoma as a very prominent farmer-stockman and he will be greatly missed by his many friends.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, the Rev. John Elliott of Fairland conducting the services. A trio, composed of Dorothy Pitman, Minnie Carlton, and Mr. Auld sang 'Jesus, Lover of My Soul,' 'Some Sweet Morn,' and 'Lead Kindly Light.'

Pallbearers were Homer Wells, H. Jones, John Atkinson, Sam Garman, W. Giett and Bill Jones, who were his old friends.

Mr. Long is survived by his wife, Mrs. W.J. Long, five sons, L.B. Long and Ira Long, of Wyandotte, C.W. Long of Charleston, S.C., T.Z. and T.O. Long, of Globe, Ariz.; one daughter, Mrs. May Hammond of Wichita, Kas.; one brother, Tom Long of Canada; two sisters, Agnes George of St. Paul, Kas., and Beatrice Long of Marshall, Mo.; five grandchildren, and a host of friends.

The church was filled to overflowing and there were many beautiful floral offerings. They sympathy of a wide circle of friends is extended to the bereaved family.

Burial was in the Wyandotte cemetery under the direction of the Mitchell Undertaking company of Seneca."
