Daughter of Allen and Jenny Rose Backloupe McEver. She graduated from Ennis High School in 1950 as class president. She earned her BA in business from North Texas. She married Henry Michael Kelly of Ennis on August 21, 1954. She was awarded the first Teacher of the Year Award from the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge. She has three children.
