Fern Adele Weyer, 94, of Baileyville, Kansas, died Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at her home.

She was married to Lawrence Weyer on June 4, 1944 at Salem Lutheran Church.

Fern went to normal training school to become a teacher. She then taught from 1940-1941 in a one room school house at Hogs Corner, which was near Vermillion, Kansas. She also taught at Berwick School near Sabetha.

She liked to recite poetry, enjoyed gardening and her family was always first in her mind. Fern was Valedictorian of her 1938 graduating class at Centralia, Kansas.

Survivors are her sons, Paul Weyer of Baileyville and Larry Weyer of Woodbridge Va. and daughters, Karen Beagle of Topeka and Marie Woods of Emporia, 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Surviving sisters are Erma Gandy of Kansas City, Audrey Chestnut of Topeka, and Mildred Chatham of Topeka.

Fern was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence who died in 1996, brother, Earl Yarger, and sisters, Wilma Boedinger, Hazel Hoffman, and Leota Matthews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2015 at the Salem Lutheran Church, southwest of Axtell, Kansas. Burial will be in the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery.
