Alexander was born in Vermont to Peter N. Beaman and Mary Stone. He first came to Meredith and Laconia NH where his children were born. He was a furniture dealer, removing to Massachusetts in the early 1860's and returning to Laconia where he died a few years later in 1871. Alexander married Mary J. Robbins 1819 in her home town of Hillsboro, NH. Their four children were born in Laconia NH, their son Edward dying as an infant and they may have had an earlier daughter Annie who also died young. After the death of Alexander and Mary, his three remaining children, Mary, Abby and Annie moved to Bradford NH where they lived together until Abby died. After Abby's death Mary and Annie moved to the Home for the Aged in Laconia NH in 1910, Mary dying in 1911 and Annie 1919. They are all buried together in Union Cemetery.
