Robert 'Bob' Gilmore Brackett
Robert "Bob" Gilmore Brackett, age 98, of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at the Magic Valley Manor in Wendell, Idaho, where he had resided during his final years.
Robert was born April 15, 1914, in Buhl, Idaho, to Edward Levi Brackett and Nellie Mae Fox Brackett. He had six brothers and sisters who lived in various cities outside of Idaho. Their names from eldest to youngest are Helen Eckstrand (d), Ruth Tenant, Clark Brackett (d), Francis Lambourne (d), Maxine Mize and John Arthur Brackett.
He married Laura Eunice Drury on March 22, 1937, at a ceremony in Buhl, Idaho. They had six children, Laura Ann Cook, Robert Alan Brackett, Ronald Gilmore Brackett, Nancy Eileen Rice, Kathy Maxine Mannick and Barry Levi Brackett. They have 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Robert attended Idaho State Military Academy in 1936 to study pharmacology. He returned to farming in the Buhl area following the school year. Robert and Laura raised their family in the Filer and Twin Falls districts. They lived and worked on farms from Buhl to Kimberly until moving to Filer in 1950. A fledgling heating repair business was begun, which grew to provide for the family and purchase a small farm and home southwest of Twin Falls, which the family occupied in 1955. Robert and Laura lived in the ranch home until 2001 when, following a gradual deterioration of Robert's vision, they moved to the senior living center at the Lazy J Ranch. After nearly 10 years, they relocated to the Magic Valley Manor in Wendell, Idaho, for assisted care living.

Robert is survived by a sister and a brother, all of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be a viewing from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at White Mortuary in Twin Falls. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at White Mortuary "Chapel by the Park," under the direction of Lance Cox and staff. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls.
