Nettie Naomi Dudley
August 4, 1917 - June 15, 2015
Nettie Dudley, 97, of Amarillo died Monday, June 15, 2015.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with Dr. Howard K. Batson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40.
Nettie was born in Olustee, Okla., to Tom and Pearlie Mae Agan. Nettie was the youngest of five sisters and the older sister to a brother. Nettie was a wonderful mother to her son, Jerry. Nettie married the love of her life, Earl Dudley, in 1947 in Vernon. They lived a long, happy life gardening, traveling to the mountains and fishing together before he preceded her in death in 1989. She loved family gatherings and her house was the place to be whenever everyone came to town. Nettie had many nieces and nephews who loved her very much. She was always full of words of wisdom, advice and laughter. Nettie was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo. She had previously worked for Dunn & Bradstreet. She loved gardening and cooking for her family.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the exceptional care that Nettie received from the nursing staff and doctors on the seventh floor of Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital as well as the entire staff of BSA Hospice. Our hearts were greatly touched by how much love was shown to Nettie and our family.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Mayes of Amarillo and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guests from 6 to 8 today at the funeral home.
