Skip died peacefully at home in Vancouver, Washington at the age of 71. Born in Tacoma, Washington, he spent most of his school years in Mountlake Terrace, Washington where he met and married his wife, Janell. Together they moved to Vancouver, Washington in 1967 so that he could begin his career with the Washington State Patrol. Skip later worked with Vancouver Police Department, then as Assistant Director for the first 911 center (CRCA) and retired as Manager of Cascade Fire Safety, all in Vancouver, Washington.
He loved living in Vancouver and Skip volunteered extensively and held offices with the 4th of July committee, YMCA, Clark County Fair Assoc., and Fort Vancouver Power Squadron, all in Vancouver, Washington.
In addition to being survived by his wife of 50 years, Janell, Skip leaves behind his daughter Melissa (Rex); grandchildren Taylor and Hunter; his mother Elinor Owens; and his brothers Robert (Glenyce) and Randy (Evelyn) and their families.
A graveside service was on June 19, 2015 at Park Hill Cemetery in Vancouver, Washington.
