In 1984 Ken moved to Phoenix, AZ and started working for the IRS in the auditing division in 1986. He transferred to the Kansas City office in 2000 and completed 20 years of service, living in Overland Park, KS.
Ken was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed calling bingo at the local VFW. He was an avid card player, especially pinochle. His other hobbies were reading and singing karaoke.
Those left to cherish his memory are his three brothers, Gerald (Josee) Hanisch of Washington, D.C.; Tom (Jeanette) Hanisch of Millwood, VA and Gene (Jackie) Hanisch of Dell Rapids, SD; his sister, Marie (Bill) Skelly of Dell Rapids, SD, and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church in Dell Rapids. Interment will be in the St. Mary Cemetery.
