Justin Tostrup of Viking, MN age 28 died on Saturday, June 13, 2015 as the result of an automobile accident.
Funeral service to celebrate the life of Justin was held at 10:30 AM on Friday, June 19, 2015 at New Hope Lutheran Church in Newfolden, MN with Pastor Ollie Urdahl & Pastor Jim Robberstad. Burial followed at Viking Cemetery near Viking, MN.
Justin John Tostrup was born on May 10, 1987 in Thief River Falls, MN the son of John and Sharlene (Garfve) Tostrup. He was baptized at the Zion Lutheran Church in Viking, MN and confirmed at the Viking Covenant Church. He attended the Marshall County School graduating in the class of 2005.
In 2006 Justin went to work at the American Crystal plant in Drayton, ND and became the third generation of Tostrup’s to work at the plant. He was a truck driver, process technician, and enjoyed all of the variety of opportunities at the plant and was a union member while working at the plant. Being one to have his priorities in order at a very young age, Justin purchased his home in Viking, MN that same year at the age of 19, and also got his dog, Jigg.
Justin was an animal lover, one of a kind, amazing brother, strong willed, loving, courageous, outgoing, vivacious, comical, was always right, could always make you laugh, selfless, stubborn like his grandpa and his dad, lovable, willing to help, and proud of everything he worked so hard for. Justin was quoted as saying, “smile, even if it hurts”. He had a big heart, he gave Grandma Cowie a sign after his Grandpa Cowie died that read – All you need is love and a dog.
He enjoyed ice fishing, spending time with all his friends, eating Grandma’s cooking, loved Ford vehicles, used excessive loud music to express his feelings, he knew everything about movies that were coming out, and wore cut off shirts and Carhart clothing.
Justin is survived by his father, John (Sherry) Tostrup of Viking, MN; mother, Sharlene (John LaCosse) Tostrup of Viking, MN; brothers, Jason (fiancé, Alaina Nepstad) Tostrup of Middle River, MN, Jeremy Tostrup of Thief River Falls, MN; grandparents, Ruth Tostrup of Thief River Falls, MN, Arlette & Laurel Majer of Greenbush, MN; step-grandmother, Beatrice Garfve of Newfolden, MN; Randi Numedahl, special friend and expecting mother of Justin’s unborn child due on November 23, of Thief River Falls; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.
