Dora was born to Joseph "Joel" and Mary Catherine (nee Bridges) Buckalew, the second child of six. Her siblings were James, Clarissia, John E., Cora and George W. Later her mother married Henry Wells and had two more children - Vernie "Elmer" and Willie. Her father was a farmer.
At 13 years old on Jan 24, 1886, Dora married James Sylva in Kirksville Missouri. They had one child, Clyde Earl born in Nov 1886.
At 17 years old she married Albert Teachout in 1889 in Michigan. They had three children, Alfred Henry born in 1894, Nettie born in 1895 and Florence born in 1898. Albert passed away Nov 10, 1902.
Then about a year and a half later on Jun 23 in Allegan Michigan, Dora married William W. Armstrong. They had one child, Dora Mae born in 1905. They lived in Plainwell, Michigan where in 1910 Dora was a washerwoman, and William had no occupation.
William died in 1924 and Dora continued living in Plainwell on West Hill Street. She was 63 years old when she passed away.
