CALDWELL—Fred Hultz, 76, of 2120 South Tenth Avenue, a lifetime resident of Canyon County, died Thursday morning In a Caldwell nursing home.
Mr. Hultz was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Hultz, who homesteaded near Notus in the 1880's. He came to this area from California, where he participated in the California gold rush. His wife came by covered wagon in 1875 from Missouri. Born Dec. 23, 1885, in Notus, Mr. Hultz farmed near Notus until he retired in 1947. He was married Jan. 13, 1908, in Boise to Frances Conway. The couple moved to Caldwell after his retirement. Mrs. Hultz died Jan. 8, 1959.
He was a member of Caldwell Lodge 1448, BPOE, and was a member of the Ten Davis School Board for many years and a former director of the Parma wool pool.
Surviving are three sons, Harold Hultz of Caldwell and Herbert and Fred Hultz, Jr., both of Parma, and six grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at the Peckham-Dakan-Davis Chapel at 2 p.m. Monday. Rev. Robert A. Reed will officiate. The Elks Lodge will conduct services at Canyon Hill.
