Mrs. Fred Berg Buried Saturday

Carrie May Saar was born July 16, 1869, at White River, Washington, one of eight children born to Peter and Margaret Saar. She was married May 1, 1890, to Frederick L. Berg at Gera, Washinton, and they made their home at Nooksack, Washington until coming to Fruitland in 1909 where she has since resided except for two years which the family spent in Lodi, California. She died at her home near Fruitland, June 30, at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 14 days.

At the age of 14 she joined the Methodist Episcopal Church and remained true to her faith through-out her life.

Preceding her in death were her husband who died in 1937, a daughter, Esther, in 1909, and a son, Austin, in 1910.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Methodist Church in Fruitland, with the Rev. H. G. Luscombe in charge. Burial was in the Park View cemetery.

She is survived by four daughters, Elsie Berg of Fruitland, Mrs. Elizabeth Walbrecht of Nampa, Irene Berg of Kalispell, Montana, and Mrs. Anne Morgan of Johnstown, Pennsylvania; two grand-daughters, Carol and Rhonwen Morgan of Johnstown; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Sleasman of Redmond, Oregon; and one brother, George Saar of Calgary, Alberta.(Independent Enterprise, Thursday, July 8, 1943)
