Albert 'Al' Brown
Albert L. 'Al' Brown, 83, of Boise, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 9, 1994, in a Boise hospital after a long illness. Private interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 26, in Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell, Idaho.
Al was born October 21, 1910, in Smith County near Lebanon, Kansas, the son of James F. and Celia Mae Brown. Al's early years were spent on a family farm in Kansas where his elementary education was obtained in a one-room country school. Al served four years in the armed forces during World War II, of which three years and three months were served overseas on the island of Maui and Tinian Island in the Marianas. He was a truck driver hauling bombs and ammunition for the B-29s. After honorable discharge from the service he purchased a farm near Roswell, Idaho and continued with his love of farming until, in 1952, he moved to Seattle, Washington, where he worked in an auto accessory warehouse until his retirement. Al married his wife, Nancy (formerly B. Morse) in Seattle in 1958 and after his retirement, they moved to Boise, Idaho, in 1977. In his retirement years his hobby was making his home and gardens beautiful and enjoying vacation travel trailering across the United States. He was a lifelong baseball fan and an avid supporter of the cubs for 65 years.
Al was a life member of Seattle Elks Lodge #92; American Legion #99 of Kirkland, Washington; and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars #2995 of Bellevue, Washington.
Al is survived by his wife, Nancy; his sisters, Carol, and her husband Ronald Blakley of Caldwell, Idaho, and Marthetta and her husband, Dudley Jones of Oregon City, Oregon; brothers, Floyd "Spin" Brown of Pilot Rock, Oregon, and George "Brownie" and his wife Edith of Porot Townsend, Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews. He enjoyed a very close relationship with his total family and they could always depend on him for help and support.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and two brothers, Jerry and Glenn "Bake" Brown.
Memorials may be made to the Idaho Chapter of American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA), c/o St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, 1066 N. Curtis Road, Boise, ID 83706, or to your favorite charity.
