James Earl Syling Jr., 82, passed away peacefully in his home Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011.
He is survived by his wife, Janet, now residing in Alamogordo.
He was a blessed man with six children: Jim, Cheryl, Gary, Marla, Doyle and Daron. He also had 25 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jim served 33 years in law enforcement throughout New Mexico with the New Mexico State Police.

He retired as District 8 commander in 1985, and continued community service to each area he lived until his death.
He loved life, he treasured his faith and he leaves a legacy of integrity and honor in all those he knew.
A memorial celebration will be held at Hillsboro Community Center on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at 11 a.m.
The Syling family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements.
