She is my GG Grandmother. There is some confusion as to her correct name. She is listed with different names in different records. The marriage license says MARY SURRENCY. The first census after the marriage, 1900, shows CARRIE B. The 1910 census list her as MARY C.

She was the 1st wife of Jesse Martin "Bud" DeLoach. She was only 14 when they married. She and Bud had 2 sons and 4 daughters:

An infant son

Maude DeLoach (Barnes)

Willi Jo DeLoach (Moody, Johns)- My line through her daughter, Dorothy Moody

Sally Kate DeLoach (Boone, Rasmussen)

Edna Lee DeLoach (Anderson)

Jesse Curtis DeLoach (died due to alcohol poisoning after drinking some moonshine he found that belonged to his daddy)

I was told by my maternal grandmother (Dorothy) that her name was Carrie Black. The 1900 US census list her as Carrie B.

Yet, the 1910 US Census list her as Mary C (Mary Carrie?)

There are marriage records in Tattnall County, GA that shows the name of Mary C Surrency, but, records indicate that this person (same name, same year of birth) was married to both Jesse and his brother David at the same time, which obviously is not right.

Carrie has always been a mystery to us. Is her name Carrie? Is it Mary? Black or Surrency?

Her husband, Jesse Martin "Bud" DeLoach married again on 16 Nov 1913 in Tattnall County, GA to Minnie Varnadoe. They divorced.

He lastly married Alma Brown on 21 Oct 1927 in Tattnall County, GA. They had 5 children.

A HUGE Thank you to FAG Member WD (#47399914)for finding her grave and those of the two sons, one of which I did not know about. I had looked for years with never knowing when she died nor where she was buried. My most sincere appreciation!!
