Arvada, Colo. -- Melvin Sander, 68, formerly of Victoria, died Jan. 5, 2001, at Hospice of St. John's Hospital, Golden, Colo. He was born March 20, 1932, at Victoria, the son of Celestine and Pauline Stang Sander.

An Arvada, Colo., resident for 40 years, he was a truck driver for Safeway Foods. He belonged to Shrine of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Arvada.

Survivors include: his wife, Rosemarie Wanner Sander, of the home; three brothers, Wilfred Sander of Hays, Kan., Donald of Iowa, and Leland of Los Angeles; and two sisters, including Lillian Urban, La Crosse.

Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. today at Cline's Mortuary of Hays. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the mortuary, with Father Frank X. Grinko presiding. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today and 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, both at the mortuary. Burial will be in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria.
