Helen Waddell, 81, of Rigby, passed away at her home Saturday, June 6, 2015.

Helen was born Jan. 13, 1934, in Idaho Falls, a daughter to William Henry Waters and Hannah Elizabeth Nield Waters. She was raised in Milo and Ucon, Idaho, and attended Bonneville High School. She married Edlef Bruce Edlefsen on Oct. 2, 1950, in Ucon. On Aug. 5, 1988, she married Jack Waddell in Wilford, Idaho; their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on April 23, 2002.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as humanitarian chairman in Rigby 3rd Ward. She worked at Leadore Store in Leadore and for Speedy Cleaners in Rexburg. She moved to Salmon in 1969 and ranched with her husband. She also worked for the Leadore school lunch program. She was a cook for Rigby Senior Citizens Center and served on Rigby Senior Citizens Center Board of Directors. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and sewing. She loved family get-togethers with her grandchildren.

She is survived by three daughters, Wanda (John) Calhoun of Phoenix, Margaret (Paul) Gallup of Rigby and Lexie (Jesus) Rascom of Phoenix; three sons, Kent W. Edlefsen of Leadore, Tony C. Edlefsen of Leadore and Robert Waddell of Phoenix; five sisters, Louise Wallace of Coalville, Utah, Juanita "Nita" Arnold of Pocatello, Idaho, Lucile Still of Twin Falls, Idaho, Connie (Jon) Braisted of Leads, Utah, and Rose Wallace of Coalville; two brothers, Leonard (DeOn) Waters of Idaho Falls and Wallace (Pam) Waters of Mississippi; 27 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren with two more arriving in the near future.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bruce Edlefsen; second husband and the love of her life, Jack Waddell; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Dolly Orgill Edlefsen; stepdaughter, Carla Hayes; her parents; two brothers, Lawrence Waters and Harold Waters; a sister, Florence Woolf; and a brother and a sister in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 11, in Rigby 3rd Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Corey Beebe conducting. The family will visit with friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Eckersell Funeral Home, 101 W. Main St., Rigby, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church. Interment will be in Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby.
