Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Louise Andrews.

He is survived by wife
Wife, Cindy Wall Andrews;
Father, Bob B. Andrews;
Son, Richard L. Andrews, Jr & wife Austin, of Bath;
Daughters, Margaret Andrews & husband Jason, of Princeton, NJ,
Elizabeth Preyer & husband Britt, of Greensboro;
Step-son, Brandon G. Wall & wife Tamie, of Clayton;
Step-daughter; Lolly J. Williams, of Wilmington;
Sister, Kim Harsey & partner Renae Elam, of Mooresville;
6 grandchildren, Cameron D. Wall, Averlie G. Wall, Richard L. Andrews,III, Henry Roberts Andrews, Charlie Schwartz, and Elizabeth Preyer, 2 nephews, Troy and Andrew Harsey.

Richard's passion was his never-ending love for family and friends, telling a good story, knowing so many historical facts and his strong faith in God. He was devoted, loving and romantic husband to his wife, a fun loving dad to his children, and the best "POP" any grandchild could hope to have and enjoy.

We all loved him because he was so comfortable in his own skin, which allowed him to do and be whatever he wanted-like writing beautiful poetry for his wife, singing her funny love songs, shad fishing on the jet ski, and wearing his cape and beret down Main Street of Tarboro. All these things made us love, laugh and adore this special man who opened up his heart to never ending love and held on tightly.God gave us many gifts and the greatest of these is love.

Memorial contributions are appreciated and may be made to Duke Medical Hospital, Amyloidosis Cancer Center, 710 W. Main Street, Suite 200, Durham, NC 27701.

Immediately following the service will be a celebration of life reception at On the Square Restaurant in Tarboro for family and close friends.

Arrangements are by Carlisle Funeral Home, Inc., of Tarboro, NC.

Richard was a Member of the Steering Committee of America In Bloom, Tarboro, NC.

Richard Andrews was part of the initial Tarboro in Bloom initiative and a talented preservation architect who worked professionally on Calvary Episcopal Church and, most recently, the Pippen House as well as his house tucked away just north of Battle Avenue.

Richard contributed greatly to the AIB/TIB initiative by reminding us that our work was community development and not pretty plants. Through Richard's AutoCad skills, we also clarified and and mapped the two Tarboro historic districts and how they intersect - the larger National Register Historic District and the smaller overlay of the zoned Tarboro Historic District that has design regulations.
