Funeral mass for Robert Christ Wind was June 9, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Dan Hirtz officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of James & Gahr Mortuary, Salem.
Interment was in the North Lawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Wind, Tom Wind, Bill Wind, Bob Wind, Josh Peterson and Pete Peterson.
Mr. Wind was born October 15, 1934 in Oakfield to Casper and Pauline (Schoemann) Wind. He married Dorothy Kahle September 15, 1956. They were the parents of nine children. Mr. Wind died June 5, 2015 at the age of 80 years.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Wind; children, Joan Jackson and husband, Bill, Licking; Patti Hampton, Pacific; Bob Wind and wife, Sue, Fenton; Rich Wind, Salem; Marg Peterson and husband, Pete, Licking; David Wind, Blue Springs; Tom Wind, Salem; Bill Wind, Salem; sister, Lavern Koch and husband, Don, O’Fallon; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces; nephews; extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and one son, Norm Wind.
Mr. Wind was the captain of the Melville Fire Department and started and built the Montauk Fire Department. He was the owner of the Tradewinds RV and Campground.
