Mrs. Lois Ruth Kanoy Allred, 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Hospice Home at High Point.
A resident of this area all of her life, Mrs. Allred was born on August 19, 1922 in Davidson County to the late Jacob and Ruth Conrad Kanoy. She had worked in the hosiery industry for many years, having worked for Ragen Knitting Company and later retiring from Dogwood Hosiery. She was a dedicated and faithful servant of her Lord and Savior and attended Thomasville Assembly of God. Mrs. Allred also volunteered for Thomasville Medical Center and enjoyed spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 46 years, B. Phillip Allred, loving daughter, Maxine Kennedy, and three brothers, Grady, Clayton, and John Laster Kanoy.
Surviving are her children, David Lee Allred and his wife Patricia of Archdale and Philip Michael Allred of Denton; son-in-law, Ronnie Kennedy of Fancy Gap, VA; her special grandchildren and caregivers, Tammy D. Stout and significant other, Ray Vonn Tucker II of High Point and David L. Allred II of Archdale; grandchildren, Brad Kennedy and his wife Pam of Wytheville, VA, Brent Kennedy of Winston-Salem, Kyra Allred and Tiffany Allred, both of Denton; nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; her sister, Elizabeth Beck of Thomasville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Mrs. Allred's life will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, June 10, 2015 in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home with Pastor Alan Byerly and Pastor Ronnie Conner officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of her son, David L. Allred. Pallbearers will be David L. Allred II, Hunter Matthew Allred, Ray Vonn Tucker II, and Brad Kennedy.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Carol Ann and Sonya and the staff of Hospice Home at High Point for their gentle care of Mrs. Allred during her illness. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Allred's memory may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
