David A. Kirkland, 64, Ottawa, Kan., passed away June 4, 2015. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 8, at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, at the funeral home with burial in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make contributions to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation . David was born in KCMO and had lived in the KCK area most of his life before moving to Ottawa. He worked as a warehouse receiver for Sysco for 37 1/2 years, retiring in 2013. David was an accomplished carpenter and talented BBQ chef. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister. Survivors include his wife, Sherrie Kirkland, six sons, Michael Kirkland, Jason Kirkland, Bradley Houtman, John Houtman, Shawn Houtman and Alexander Houtman; daughter, Roxi Bailes; 10 grandchildren and nephew, Marvin Burnham.
