Charles Edward Segrest, 69, of 202 Longview Pl., died at 10 p.m. Thursday in the Veterans Hosptal at Dwight. He had been ill for 4 years.
Mr. Segrest, who came to Decatur in 1935 from Vandalia, retired in 1956 from the Decatur Signal Depot. A World War I Army veteran, he was a member of American Legion Castle William Post 105.
He was born 23Sep1889, in Hillsboro, the son of George & Martha Segrest. He married Lottie Johnson 03Jan1947, in Vandalia.
He is survived by his wife, 1 son, Charles of Greenville; & a sister, Mrs. Eva Dolly of Vandalia.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the J. J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Castle Williams Post 105.
Friends may call at the funeral home after noon tomorrow.
