Margaret Louise Everett Adam

Margaret Louise Everett Adam of West Chester died Thursday, June 4, 2015. She was 95.

Margaret Louise Everett was born in Lewisburg PA Feb 14, 1920, to parents Dr. Harry S. Everett and Nellie MacLaughlin Follmer.

The Everetts moved to Chicago in 1933 when her father became a professor of mathematics at the University of Chicago.

Margaret Louise studied geography at the University of Chicago, and began her career at Marshall Fields of Chicago rising to the position of Training Coordinator. She enjoyed adventurous vacation travel with her coworkers.

In 1951 she married architect Sinclair A. Adam. They began their family in Connecticut. Margaret Louise dedicated herself to making a cultured home for her family. The family moved to the Adam family home in West Chester in 1965.

In West Chester, Margaret Louise became a member of the First Presbyterian Church, led “Great Books” discussion groups in the Westtown schools, and volunteered at the West Chester Women’s Exchange.

She maintained connections with an extended network of family and friends across the country, sending gifts of her delicate knitted garments. She was an avid reader, a gifted letter writer, and enjoyed the literary and fine arts. She loved sailing, skiing, tennis, and swimming. She was a subscriber of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and enjoyed theatre. She enjoyed gardening whenever she could. Lilacs were one of her favorite plants, and carnations and nasturtiums were her favorite flowers.

She is survived by two sons and their wives, by a daughter, by two her grandchildren, and by two nieces.

Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 10, at the First Presbyterian Church (130 W. Miner Street, West Chester, PA 19382.

Her visitation will be held on Monday, June 8, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m., at Birmingham-Lafayette Cemetery, 1235 S. Birmingham Rd., West Chester, PA 19382.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Women’s Exchange of 10 S. Church St. West Chester, PA 19382, and/or the First Presbyterian Church, 130 West Miner Street, West Chester, PA 19382.
