Parents were C.U. Shelby and Mary Ella Means. She married Earl Tyler Propes 3 Jun 1944 in Amherst, Lamb County, Texas. They divorced in 1947. They were the parents of Dorothea June Propes. Wilma remarried 8 Nov 1948 to Clyde Octave "Doodle" Taylor and he adopted Wilma's child, Dorothea June and her name became Dorothea June Taylor. Mr. Taylor preceeded Wilma in death 26 Feb. 1983. She married Dr. Robert Hartwell Mitchell, Jr. 21 Jan 1984 in Hereford, Texas. He died 5 Dec 1985 in Plainview, Texas.
She was baptised into Baptist Church, Earth, Tx. in 1941. Became a member of the United Methodist Church in Earth, Tx. in 1950 She served as Mother Advisor - Order of Rainbow For Girls - Feb. 1962 to Feb. 1963
She was secretary for the Earth, Tx. Chamber of Commerce 1956-1957; Springlake School Secretary and Tax Assessor/Collector Sept. 1957-1958;1959-1960; 1961
After 1961 she worked with her husband Clyde Octave "Doodle" Taylor in their business (Taylor Furniture)
until they retired in 1982.
Wilma Nell Taylor(Shelby) died Aug. 28, 1983 Hereford, Deaf Smith Co., TX. of cancer. Services were Aug. 30, 1987 Earth United Methodist Church Rev. Johnny Williams (long-time friend) and Rev. Brad Reeves Officiating - Burial Earth Memorial Cemetery, Earth, Lamb Co., TX.
